Just in case Yvette Lu wasn't already busy enough with a dual career
as a doctor and filmmaker, she's also adding "playwright" to her resumé. Lu - who has a part-time career as a family doctor and also works as
an actor and filmmaker - was featured in the May 8 Burnaby NOW for her
short film that's airing as part of Shaw Multicultural Channel's annual
Filmmakers Showcase. On the Victoria Day weekend, she'll also be seen as part of the
Firehall Arts Centre's B.C. BUDS spring art fair. The weekend brings together emerging and established arts to showcase
their work in theatre, dance, music and more - with performances taking
place in the theatre and in non-conventional settings like offices,
stairwells and basements. Lu will be doing a partial reading of her play Stories from the
Closet: a play about living with chronic illness. She's performing in
the St. James Cathedral Hall, 303 East Cordova St., on Sunday, May 23 at
3:30 p.m. All performances in the B.C. BUDS festival are free. Check out www.firehallartscentre.ca for more details. © Copyright (c) Lower Mainland Publishing |
